【內容簡介】

Borders are interesting. A border is where the sovereignty of a certain jurisdiction ends, and, at the same time, it is also where that of another one begins. Furthermore, the use of language is also a key component to sovereignty, and, by simple inference, it stops right at the border too. Therefore, a border is a place where language and power meet. As a result, signs around a border area are usually bilingual or even multilingual, necessitating adequate translation.

國境線是富饒趣味的。邊界其實就是一個國家主權的終點，另一個國家的主權的起點。語言政策也是國家主權的一環，因而也隨邊界共進退。準此以解，邊界是權力與語言的交叉點。於是，世界各地的邊境綫的標示往往必須透過翻譯採用雙語甚或是多語呈現；翻譯也成了不折不扣展現權力和語言交鋒的場域。是爲本文。
